which will be webcast from the annual meeting of the MHPSS Reference Group in Paris on

Background on the Speaker
Dr. Tol recently led a review of current evidence and practice in the field of MHPSS for
The Lancet 2011 Global Mental Health Series launched this October, and also led a process to develop a consensus-based 10-year research agenda for the field of MHPSS in humanitarian settings (see article in PLoS Medicine).  He is currently a postdoctoral associate with the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University.  He was a senior researcher and technical advisor for HealthNet Transcultural Psychosocial Organization in the Netherlands and was research coordinator for the Centre for Victims of Torture in Nepal.  Dr. Tol has also worked with UNICEF and Save the Children and consults with the World Health Organization.  In 2011, he was awarded the 'Chaim and Bela Danieli Young Professional Award for excellence in traumatic stress service or research' by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
